“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19a
With Resurrection Sunday just behind us, now is a perfect time to reflect on the power of the Gospel and how Christ’s death and resurrection has impacted our own lives. When did you first recognize your need for a Savior? How did it feel to have the burden of past, present, and future sins lifted from you? Have you shared this transformation with others? How is God using your story or testimony to bear witness for Him?
As Christians, we are called to be witnesses to the world. Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” A light is a natural attraction, isn’t it? Especially in times of darkness. It’s no coincidence that Christ uses this illustration to point out the impact we can have on the world when we let our light shine.
When I was talking about this with my husband last night (about what being a witness looked like), he said “You know, every person is a witness, it’s just a matter of what they are witnessing.” Truth! After reflecting on the goodness God has brought into your life, take a moment to contemplate what others are seeing in you. Is it a reflection of our Savior?
CALL TO ACTION
1 John 3:18 says “Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” This verse speaks a lot about what witnessing can and should look like. It’s not just a verbal profession of our faith (and that does matter!). We are not just to say that we are Christians and be done with it.
We are to LIVE IT! Our faith, our love for God, should radiate from us. It doesn’t mean that we are going to get it perfect or that we can go at 100% all day, everyday. In fact, our lives are messy and that’s just a part of life. It’s how we react to the mess that bears testimony. The good news is that God can use our mess, our imperfections, to be the light on the hill. Are you willing to be the beacon on a hill to those in need of the Gospel? Are you ready to share the life transforming message of what Christ has done for His people?
