Enrichment

Preschool & Kindergarten

Preschool

Ages 3 Years - 5 Years

The preschool years are when foundational skills develop into more advanced abilities. At Ardent, we focus on fostering curiosity, creativity, and social interaction within a structured environment. During this stage, we also emphasize preparing children for kindergarten, helping them build the confidence and readiness needed for a successful transition into formal schooling.

Intermediate

Ages 3 Years – 4 Years

Our Intermediate class is the official introduction to our preschool program. Bible instruction is taught by the director in our preschool classes. We continue using the Abeka curriculum building on the foundational recognition of letters and numbers.

In this class they are working on mastering their phonetic sounds and sounding out blends. Basic reading skills becomes one of the primary focuses.

Intermediate Enrichment Activities

In our Intermediate class, we introduce reading circles, providing teachers the opportunity to work with children in a more focused, small-group setting. These reading circles are designed to reinforce key concepts through a hands-on approach, allowing for more personalized instruction. The primary goal of literacy development at this stage is to expand vocabulary and help children start connecting words and sentences, further strengthening this essential foundation.

In this class, children are learning to count and recognize a specific number of objects. Workbook activities include dot-to-dots, matching, coloring, and number tracing. Children will be counting to 50 and identifying numbers up to 15.

At this stage, children are learning to build relationships and engage in cooperative play. A key focus in this class is helping them become comfortable speaking in front of their peers. We encourage this through reading circles, group discussions, and show-and-tell activities. Providing a safe space for children to confidently share their thoughts is essential to their social development.

Advanced

Ages 3 ½ - 4 Years Old

Our Advanced class is designed for children who are ready for a challenge but not yet old enough for our PreK class. In this class, children focus on mastering sight words and learning to write their names independently, building a strong foundation for future learning.

Advanced Enrichment Activities

In Advanced, kids are focused on mastering the names and sounds of each letter. They will also be introduced to blending consonants with vowels, eventually progressing to reading one-vowel words on their own. Emphasis is placed on letter formation, with activities such as tracing and writing letters independently to build early writing skills.

Our Advanced math curriculum includes learning to count to 100 and writing numbers from 1 to 20. Children will also explore number concepts like before and after, understand the concept of more and less, and be introduced to simple math facts, laying the groundwork for essential mathematical understanding.

We focus on refining both gross and fine motor skills through a variety of activities. Indoor and outdoor play helps build strength and coordination, while exercises such as cutting, drawing, and manipulating small objects enhance fine motor control. These activities are designed to support overall physical development and prepare children for more complex tasks ahead.

Pre-K

Ages 4 Years – 5 Years

Our Pre-K room is where all prior learning comes together. Using the Abeka curriculum, children in this class master reading with new phonetic rules, refine their writing skills, and deepen their understanding with new concepts. This class is all about equipping our students with the knowledge and skills they need for their next big step—kindergarten!

Pre-K Enrichment Activities

In our Pre-K class, children build upon their existing math and literacy foundation. We introduce new phonetic rules to enhance their reading skills and teach them to count to 100 by ones, fives, and tens. Additionally, they begin learning about money and how to tell time.

Pre-K students are introduced to history, literature and science studies. They will memorize the US Presidents as well as memorize all 50 states and capitals.

The primary goal of our childcare program at Ardent is to prepare children for kindergarten. Whether they continue at Ardent or move on to a new school, they will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in their academic journey.

Ages 5 Years – 6 Years

We offer a private Kindergarten program at most of our locations. Our Kindergarten class is for children who turn 5 years old by September 1st. We combine Abeka’s Advanced Kindergarten Curriculum to deliver top-tier academics.
