“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37
Is it possible to love God with all of your being? There may be days when Satan is whispering in your ear that it’s not possible to love God completely and that you should just stop trying. You may be reminded of your daily shortcomings or you may be carrying a burden that you just can’t seem to shake. Or maybe you are distracted with the “noise” of life and have forgotten that Your Father is pursuing you whether you are noticing it or not.
Because that’s what a Good Father, does right? He doesn’t give up, He stays by our side, He delivers us, He truly loves us! When you think about the relationship you have with your children, you quickly realize that you love them no matter what, right? And your children love you not because they are trying to earn your love in return but because they know, they feel, the love you demonstrate for them. They are loved therefore they love. Similarly, the words of 1 John 4:19 remind us “We love because He first loved us.”
C.S. Lewis wrote “The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.” Isn’t that beautiful?
CALL TO ACTION
Loving God with all of our hearts, souls, and minds can at times seem overwhelming. We may feel unequipped or inadequate. Or we may have some underlying sin issues that we are struggling with or unwilling to let go of. What are the obstacles in your life that are preventing your heart from pursuing our Good Father and loving Him completely?
